Working with our Law Enforcement Partners

Our special agents investigate nationwide internal crimes and fraud committed by postal employees and contractors as well as postal employee misconduct. We work with U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and local prosecutors across the country to prosecute these crimes. 

In some instances, we uncover much larger criminal activity being carried out by multiple individuals and organizations. In many of these cases, we partner with other federal and local law enforcement agencies to identify and hold responsible those who take advantage of the public’s trust in our postal system.

Four St. Louis Area Residents Sentenced for Fraud Committed with Checks Stolen from the Mail

ST. LOUIS – Four people, including a former U.S. Postal Service employee, have been sentenced for their role in a conspiracy that stole checks from the mail to commit bank fraud, U.S. Attorney Thomas C. Albus announced Tuesday. The four defendants received sentences of between 12 and 80 months in prison. All have been ordered to pay restitution of $44,135. U.S. District Judge Matthew T. Schelp sentenced former U.S. Postal Service mail carrier Wynter Hinton to 12 months in prison on August 5.

Carson Woman and Former U.S. Postal Service Employee Pleads Guilty to Stealing Checks and Credit Cards from the Mail

LOS ANGELES – A South Bay woman who formerly worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Torrance pleaded guilty today to stealing checks and debit and credit cards from the mail then selling them to her accomplices for three years, using the illicitly obtained funds to take international trips and buy luxury goods, and then flaunting the cash on Instagram.

PROVIDENCE – A U.S. Postal Service employee pleaded guilty today to participating in a mail theft ring at the U.S. Mail Processing and Distribution Center in Providence, announced Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom.

Postal Employee Sentenced for Destruction of U.S. Mail

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA – Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson announced today that JORRY HARRISON (“HARRISON”) , age 38, of Houma, Louisiana, was sentenced on July 31, 2025 to one year of probation. HARRISON previously pleaded guilty to destruction of mail, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1703(a).

Fayetteville Man Convicted of Embezzling from U.S. Postal Service

WILMINGTON, N.C. – A Fayetteville man pleaded guilty to misappropriation of postal funds and to making false entries and reports in U.S. Government records. According to court documents, Robert Raquan Patterson, 29, served as a sales and services distribution associate for the U.S. Postal Service, Evergreen Post Office. In this capacity, Patterson was responsible for the office’s finances and had access to its financial systems and records.
